Between October 21 and 24, more than 130 overseas Chinese from 30 countries and regions including US, Germany, France, and Russia attended the "Overseas Chinese Hometown Trip—Approaching Hunan".
Zhu Yuanshan, deputy director of the Clinical and Translational Science Center of Cornell University Weill Cornell Medical College, was among them. Zhu said, "I am here to seek possible projects for my American friends engaged in such fields as medicine, economy, and culture. I will serve as a bridge to promote Hunan’s development and ‘going global’ strategy."
During their stay in Hunan, the participants visited overseas Chinese-funded enterprises to learn about economic and trade cooperation, and conducted cultural exchanges. They will attend a grand ceremony to worship Emperor Shun on Jiuyi Mountain in Ningyuan County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province.
Hunan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese CPC Party Leadership Group Secretary Zhu Jianshan said, "Overseas Chinese are the supporters, participants, and beneficiaries of China’s reform and opening up. They may make full use of their social, capital, talent, and intelligence advantages to attract people from all over the world to invest and start up business in Hunan. Their contributions will help expand Hunan’s international markets and participation in international competition."
Initiated by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the "Overseas Chinese Hometown Trip" aims to deepen cooperation with overseas Chinese in economy and trade; and, science and technology. It gives full play to overseas Chinese’s role in promoting China’s economic development and helps enhance their affections to motherland.
