According to Alibaba’s data announced on Sunday that, during its past Singles’ Day global shopping festival on Nov. 11, Hunan consumers completed a gross consumption of 5.996 billion yuan on TMall, increasing by 43% over last year. The Top 5 cities in terms of consumption were Changsha, Hengyang, Zhouzhou, Yueyang, and Changde. Mobile phones, woolen coats, down jackets, and flat-panel tv were best sellers. Female consumers between 26 and 35 years old contributed most.
In addition to daily supplies, Hunan consumers spent much on traveling. The most popular tourist attractions include Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort, Happy Valley, the Imperial Palace, and Hengshan Mountain. The hottest destinations are Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Singapore.
Hunan brands were favored by consumers nationwide. On the Singles’ Day, Hunan’s outward sales totaled 1.581 billion yuan through Alipay. Paper diapers, facial masks, medical apparatus and instruments, health food, and beddings were sold well.
Hunan consumers also contributed remarkably on JD.com. During the JD Single’s Day shopping festival, Hunan consumption value ranked 13th in China, with an increase of 74% year on year. Household appliances, mobile phones, digital products, and computer and office supplies cost the most.
