12th NEAR General Assembly Kicks off in Zhangjiajie

The 12th Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR) General Assembly kicked off in Zhangjiajie on October 29, 2018.

　　The 12th NEAR General Assembly opened in Zhangjiajie on October 29, 2018. Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and attended the member regional government chair handover ceremony later.

　　The assembly was based on the principle of “equality and mutual benefit, trust and respect, exchanges and cooperation, and peace and prosperity”, and themed “co-operation and development-a new era of peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia”. The NEAR “Innovation Plus” Special Committee permanent settlement in Hunan and other major issues will be discussed at the meeting. It will also study the direction and content of cooperation between member local governments in the next few years. More than 100 representatives from 29 member local governments of China, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, and Russia participated in.

　　The Hunan Provincial People's Government was elected the 12th NEAR Chair member local government at the 11th NEAR General Assembly held in September 2016. Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe took the position of NEAR Chair. With the support of the NEAR Secretariat and other member local governments, Hunan has actively performed its duties and established a platform. It organized the 11th Affairs Committee Conference and the International Forum. This have promoted pragmatic cooperation in the fields of economic and trade, science and technology, education, culture, transportation, tourism, disaster prevention, and environmental protection.
