The New Year 2019 is around the corner. It’s a good time to recall the past and greet the new with a New Year’s concert. Here is a list of the New Year’s concerts to be held in Changsha.

1. Tomomi Nishimoto & Illuminart Philharmonic Orchestra New Year’s Concert 2019

Date: December 27, 2018, 20:00

Orchestra: Illuminart Philharmonic Orchestra

The Illuminart Philharmonic Orchestra was established in 2012. It boasts many internationally renowned and award-winning musicians. Tomomi Nishimoto is current Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. The orchestra functions as the composite art medium of the chamber music, Illuminart Opera and Illuminart Ballet. One of its special features lies in the entertainment element of the stage. Its performances are often seen on television and via public events. Since its ‘birth’ in 2012, it has grown rapidly and was performed on stages all over the world, attracting much attention from all walks of life.

2. Bulgaria Sofia National Philharmonic Orchestra: 2019 New Year’s Concert in China

Orchestra: Sofia National Philharmonic Orchestra

The Sofia National Philharmonic Orchestra was established as an institution and a structure after several transformations. Over the years the orchestra has been a cradle for musicians who have later become important figures in Bulgarian music life: such as Vasil Stefanov, Vasil Chernaev, Petar Hristoskov, Stefan Sugarev and Stefan Magnev. The Sofia Philharmonic has recorded approximately 25 instrumental concertos by Bach, Telemann, Tessarini, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt and more. (collegiummusicum.org)

3. Vienna Mozart Orchestra New Year’s Concert (Changsha)

Orchestra: Vienna Mozart Orchestra

The Vienna Mozart Orchestra was founded in 1986, with the aim to preserve and cultivate the musical tradition of Vienna, and a special dedication to the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It consists of 30 musicians, among them members of the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna Symphony orchestras. In order to recreate the baroque atmosphere of 18th century Vienna, the musicians are dressed in period costumes. (concertvienna.com)

4. National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine New Year’s Concert (Changsha)

Venue: Changsha Concert Hall

Orchestra: National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine

Formed by the Council of Ministers of Ukraine in November 1918, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine is considered to be one of the finest symphony orchestras in Eastern Europe. Dmitri Shostakovich, a renowned Russian composer ever commented, “This orchestra has as distinguished a group of performers as one would be likely to find anywhere. The ensemble of the orchestra is of the highest level. In addition, the various soloists and instrumental groups within the Orchestra play exceptionally and complement each other beautifully-as would the greatest of the world’s symphony orchestras.” (en.damai.cn)

5. Moscow Symphony Orchestra: 2019 New Year’s Concert in China

Orchestra: Moscow Symphony Orchestra

The Moscow Symphony Orchestra is one of the leading orchestras in Moscow, Russia today. Since its inception in 1989, the orchestra became an active participant in the musical life of Moscow, having performed under famous Russian and foreign conductors such as Arthur Arnold, Vladimir Ziva, Sergey Stadler, Arnold Katz and with outstanding soloists like Yuri Bashmet, Victor Tretiakov, Vadim Repin, Alexander Knyazev and Alexander Rudin. 6. German Jena Philharmonic Orchestra 2019 New Year’s Concert

Venue: Changsha Concert Hall

Orchestra: German Jena Philharmonic Orchestra

Founded in 1934, the German Jena Philharmonic Orchestra was included in the EU cultural revitalization project in 2005 and became a key orchestra supported by the EU. At the beginning of 2017, the orchestra has become one of the six well-known orchestras supported by the German Federal Government. Currently, it is widely recognized as a first-class symphony orchestra in Germany and even Europe, and plays an important role in the music system of Germany and Austria.
