The 1st China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) Organizing Committee Secretariat held its first work conference in Changsha on February 26, 2019. It was learnt that Hunan will build an “African Countries Commodity Pavilion” to provide a long-term and fixed platform for African commodities presentation and trading.

Xu Xiangping, executive deputy secretary-general of the Secretariat and director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, introduced the pavilion planning. He said, “The pavilion will exhibit African commodities during the expo, and then move to the Gaoqiao Grand Market for long-term presentation and trading.”

Hunan has already exchanged ideas with the China General Administration of Customs on such issues as expanding African non-resource products import, and facilitating customs clearance for the exhibit samples. This will ensure more African countries, especially the guest countries in this Expo, to export more products to China. Hunan will also open direct passenger and cargo flights to Africa, to guarantee transportation security for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.

Mr. Xu remarked that, the organizing committee will study the development needs of African countries; collect new energy, culture, tourism, minerals, and other projects from Africa; and, match with African exhibition resources. The expo will display African countries’ characteristics, cultures, and key commodities in an all-round way, to satisfy guests and merchants with fruitful results, he added.
