Intangible Cultural Heritage Masters Pass on Skills in Dongkou County

On May 5, a woodcarving artist was creating his work “Belt and Road” in Yangjiashan Village, Yanshan Town, Dongkou County. The Dongkou woodcarving art has the value of both appreciation and practical use. In 2008, it was listed as an intangible cultural heritage protection project of Hunan Province. In recent years, more and more young people in Dongkou County started learning woodcarving skills, becoming inheritors and practitioners. More than 80 works such as “Xi Yao Girls” and “Stand Together Through Thick and Thin” have been exhibited in national and provincial intangible cultural heritage exhibitions.
