“Chinese Bridge” Competitors Arrive in Beijing

The 18th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students will enter its quarter-final and finals. On July 22, 157 competitors from 144 competition areas in 122 countries arrived in Beijing, to prepare for the following competitions.

After registration, they dressed in their national costumes to take makeup photos, presenting distinctive costume culture. Then, they will have a two-day cultural tour in Beijing, to visit scenic spots and historical sites, and appreciate charms of Chinese culture.

The “Chinese Bridge” serial Chinese proficiency competitions include the competition for foreign college students, for foreign secondary school students, and for foreigners across the globe. Since initiated in 2002, there have been more than one million youths from over 120 countries participating in overseas preliminaries, and more than 3,000 coming to China for the finals.

The competition, as an “Olympics” of Chinese proficiency, and a “bridge of culture, friendship, and mind” linking the world, has become a cultural brand widely recognized in the international cultural circles.
