Beginning in late August, all exit and entry management departments across Hunan will allow QR code payment, including WeChat, Alipay, and China UnionPay's QuickPass, for passport and travel permit applications. The existing cash and card-swiping payment will continue to be used. This measure was launched by the Exit-Entry Administration of the Hunan Public Security Department. It aims to meet the new demands of the mobile internet era and facilitate passports and travel permit payment processes.

The person in charge of the Exit-Entry Administration remarked that the QR code payment will be in place throughout the province by the end of August, in two stages:

The first stage began on August 12. By August 16, all exit and entry management departments in Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan will support QR code payment.

The second stage will begin on August 22. As of August 31, QR code payment will be available in all the exit and entry management departments in the other 11 cities and prefecture.

Detailed implementation times are subject to the local exit and entry management departments.

QR code payments will help relieve congestion problem and improve the working efficiency of the management departments, shorten applicant times, and provide more payment options. It will bring a new level of convenience and enhance people's sense of fulfillment, happiness, and satisfaction.

After this implementation, the Exit-Entry Administration of the Hunan Public Security Department will focus on public demands and social concerns, further streamline working procedures, and improve management and services. This will help guarantee a sound, efficient, equal, and sustainable development of Hunan’s exit and entry administration.
