An exhibition displaying Yuelu Press’s literature and publications during the period of the Republic of China (1912-1949) opened at the Changsha Library on September 3. It is co-sponsored by the National Library of China, Library Society of China, and Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. It features seven themes: namely, “rare ancient books”, “famous artists and their academic culture”, “magazines and periodicals”, “Changsha’s old photos”, “celebrities’ letters”, “paintings by Xiao Junxian, one of the three famous painters during the period of the Republic of China” and “illustrations from Shen Congwen’s Works Collection”. The visitors will have a chance to get a glimpse of the “Changsha style” during the 1912-1949 period through the exhibition.
