China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Hunan Provincial People’s Government joined forces on Thursday to help showcase Hunan’s significant accomplishments in the 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The event, titled, “China in the New Era: Innovative Hunan Embracing the World” was an opportunity for attendees to learn more about an innovative and open Hunan and to set up a platform for future cooperation between China and the world.

In recent years, Hunan has made “opening-up and rising through innovation” its overall development strategy. The area has made constant innovations in science and technology, products, culture and poverty alleviation, and scored new results in promoting high-quality development.

Guests discovered how Hunan has formed the new development landscape today by proactively engaging in the Belt and Road Initiative, and by exerting its geographical advantages as the transition belt between eastern coastal areas and central and western regions and a connection zone between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and coastal economic belt.

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the event and made remarks, as did Secretary of CPC Hunan Committee Du Jiahao and Hunan Governor, Xu Dazhe.

Two hundred and twenty diplomats and representatives from 145 countries and international organizations, and managers of Fortune Global 500 companies attended Thursday’s event.
