Experts and doctors from Hunan province have won respect and appreciation from local residents after they arrived in Equatorial Guinea to help the African nation fight COVID-19.

After their field visits and exchanges and discussions with local experts and doctors, the Chinese experts suggested effective measures to help the country prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

In addition to treating patients and exchanging information with local experts and doctors, the Chinese team made videos to broadcast on local television to teach residents how to deal with the coronavirus.

After the broadcast, the national television host gave a thumbs up. It was easy to understand, scientific and accurate, and could guide the direction of the country's prevention and control efforts, the host said.

Local senior health officials said China has been the most successful country in fighting the pandemic, and its measures represent best practices.

China's experience tells Equatorial Guinea that COVID-19 can be prevented, health officials said, adding that the key is to manage the source of infection and mobilize the entire society to participate in the campaign.

The Chinese team arrived in the Central African nation weeks ago at the invitation of the prime minister of Equatorial Guinea, a country with a population of 1.3 million. It has more than 1,000 COVID-19 patients. The country confirmed its first imported case on March 14.
