Hunan-Yangtze River Delta Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Week Opens

The 2020 Hunan-Yangtze River Delta Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Week was launched. On June 29, the Hunan Investment Environment and Key Industry Promotion, and the West Hunan Industrial Transfer Demonstration Zone Promotion, two major activities of the event, opened both online and offline in Changsha. Twenty-seven key projects were contracted online, with a total investment of 58.26 billion yuan. 

The promotion week is an important provincial economic and trade event supported by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial Government. It is an important platform to leverage Hunan’s favorable location on the transitional “belt” connecting the eastern coastal area with the central and western areas, and in the junction “zone” between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Coastal Economic Belt; and, to grasp the opportunities of stratified relocation of industries and development of central and western provinces.

This year's promotion week, under the circumstances of ongoing COVID-19 prevention and control across the province, combines online and offline channels and conduct livestreams to the world for the first time. A total of 497 provincial investment attraction projects in four categories -- infrastructure, new industrialization, modern service industry, and modern agriculture, are to be promoted, covering the fields of equipment manufacturing, biological medicine, electronic information, trade and logistics, health and elderly care, and modern agriculture.

Innovations are made for the promotion week in both form and content, such as online activities, livestream, agreement signing on “cloud”, and live commerce. Several economic and trade platform are promoted, including the China-Africa economic and trade cooperation mechanisms, airport economic zones, and comprehensive bonded zones. Hunan’s key industries, industrial parks and zones, and projects are recommended. The advanced manufacturing highlights are construction machinery and rail transit. Yuelu Mountain University Science and Technology Town, the Malanshan Video Cultural Creation Park will represent Hunan’s sci-tech innovations. During the West Hunan Industrial Transfer Demonstration Zone promotion, each of the six cities and prefecture of the zone will present a featured industry, park, or project.

Four special promotions will be held in the delta, namely the Hunan Electronic Information Industry Promotion, also a match-making event for the comprehensive bonded zone; Changsha Airport Trade Cooperation Promotion; Hunan Digital Countryside Conference, also a Hunan products promotion; and, a China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Mechanism Promotion in Shanghai.
