Hunan Overfulfills Major Tasks for Industrial Energy Saving Ahead of Schedule

A provincial industrial energy saving diagnosis and service conference was held on July 15. It announced that, between 2016 and 2019, Hunan’s energy consumption per unit of value-added output by the industrial enterprises over designated size decreased by more than 5% annually, and 21% in total. Hunan has overfulfilled the major tasks for industrial energy conservation of the 13th Five-year Plan one year ahead of the schedule. It has saved standard coal of 10 million tons and reduced carbon dioxide emission of 25 million tons, equivalent to conserving energy cost of 15 billion yuan directly. Economic and environmental progress has been made in a balanced manner.

In line with the deployment of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Hunan has firmly carried out energy saving supervision and law enforcement, while providing related diagnosis and services. Administrative measures were rolled out to boost energy saving in key industrial sectors and cut backward production capacity, while encouraging and leading the industrial enterprises and parks to create green supply chain, develop green products, and achieve green growth.

So far this year, 235 enterprises in Hunan have applied for energy saving diagnosis, and 31 third-party institutions applied for providing diagnosis services. In order to popularize such services among industrial enterprises and increase industrial energy efficiency, the Hunan Industrial and Communication Energy Saving Supervision Center will give a privilege to qualified enterprises. The enterprises diagnosed as “good performance” in energy efficiency and management will be supervised less, or even exempt from inspection.

In 2019, 57 industrial enterprises received energy saving diagnosis by 13 professional institutions. The institutions provided 175 advices. Will a fulfillment of all those advices, Hunan will save energy equivalent to 285,000 tons of standard coal, and achieve economic benefit of 164 million yuan.
