China FOC 2020 Overseas Chinese Leaders Seminar researched in Xiangxi

From November 12th to 13th, the 2020 Overseas Chinese Leaders Seminar organized by China Federation of Overseas Chinese went to Xiangxi, Hunan to carry out on-site research. Forty-five overseas Chinese leaders from 25 countries and regions visited Shibadong Village in Huayuan County, the first spot of targeted poverty alleviation, and the ancient city of Fenghuang County, a famous historical and cultural town in China.

Xiangxi is the first place for General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discussion on targeted poverty alleviation. On November 3, 2013, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Xiangxi and gave important instructions of "seeking truth from facts, adapting measures to local conditions, giving guidance according to different categories and taking targeted measures for poverty alleviation". The important discussion of targeted poverty alleviation has become the basic strategy guiding China's poverty alleviation.

In Shibadong Village, Huayuan County, where targeted poverty alleviation was launched first, overseas Chinese visitors visited the Targeted Poverty Alleviation Museum of Shibadong Village, watched a special film on poverty alleviation in Shibadong Village, and visited shibadong village on the spot. From the village appearance, cultural customs, economic development, ethnic culture and other aspects, guests personally felt the great changes that have taken place in the Village since the beginning of the battle against poverty.

In the ancient city of Fenghuang, a famous historical and cultural city in China, overseas Chinese leaders visited Shen Congwen's former residence, investigated Wenchangge Primary School and fieldresearched on overseas Chinese Home in Fenghuang County.

Overseas Chinese leaders said that during the trip to Western Hunan, they not only appreciated the beautiful natural scenery but also felt the achievements of historical and cultural background and poverty alleviation. They would combine their own development needs and seek more cooperation opportunities to contribute to the development of Hunan and West Hunan. At the same time, they would make use of their respective resource advantages to actively promote Hunan and West Hunan to overseas markets.

During his stay in West Hunan, overseas Chinese leaders also participated in the "West Hunan situation and investment attraction Project Promotion meeting", and had a clearer understanding of key industrial projects, good business environment and preferential investment attraction policies in West Hunan.

It is reported that in the investigation of Phoenix Wenchangge Primary School, The Federation of Overseas Chinese also facilitated the phoenix Wenchangge primary School and Beijing Haidian Experimental Primary School to establish a friendship school.
