Hunan Province Holds General Forest Chiefs First Meeting

On the morning of August 3, Hunan Province held the first meeting of general forest chiefs. Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, and general forest chief of Hunan Province, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and governor and first deputy general forest chief of Hunan Province, attended the meeting.

Xu stressed that we must study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and focus on the establishment of a forest chief scheme nationwide to make new progress in building Hunan into an ecological powerhouse with beautiful scenery. Xie Jianhui, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and executive vice governor and deputy general forest chief of Hunan Province, Zhang Jianfei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary general of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Chen Wenhao, vice governor and deputy general forest chief of Hunan Province attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed relevant documents supplementary to the forest chief scheme, and person in charge of the Hunan Provincial Forest Chief Scheme Work Office made a report on relevant work.

The meeting pointed out that implementing a forest chief scheme nationwide is a major decision made by the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council. It is a major institutional innovation in the field of ecological civilization in China, and an important measure to promote the modernization of the system and capacity for forest governance. Departments at all levels in the province, especially forest chiefs at all levels, should highlight alignment of benchmarks, keep to the right direction, study Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, enhance the capacity for political judgment, thinking, and implementation, and realize that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. The meeting called for adherence to the path of green development that puts ecology first. Efforts should be made to focus on implementing a forest chief scheme nationwide and build Hunan into an ecological powerhouse with beautiful scenery.
