First vocational skills competition of Hunan province launched

The related work of the first Vocational Skills Competition of Hunan Province has already started. It was learned from a press conference held by the Information Office of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government on December 2, 2021.

Hunan Province will hold a provincial vocational skill competition every two years, according to the decision made at the executive meeting of the provincial government. It will adopt a combination of centralized and decentralized contests. The related work of the first session has been launched, and the finals of the centralized competition will be officially opened in Zhuzhou Vocational Education Town in next May.

Themed “Vocational Skills Create Hunan’s Future”, the competition is based on Hunan’s reality and closely linked to the development of the industry. It builds a large competitive platform for skilled laborers, and strives to have impact in central China and even the whole country. The competition gives full play to its demonstration and leading role in the construction of skilled talent teams; promotes the development of skilled talents; and, effectively assists in building Hunan into a province strong in talents.

The competition is sponsored by the People’s Government of Hunan Province; undertaken by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Hunan Province, the People’s Government of Zhuzhou City, the Department of Education of Hunan Province, and the Hunan Federation of Trade Unions; and, co-organized by 25 units including the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Office of the Hunan Provincial Cyberspace Affairs Commission, and the Development and Reform Commission of Hunan Province. It is estimated that the total number of contestants, referees, and staff members will be about 3,500. It will be the largest vocational skills competition in Hunan Province since the founding of the PRC in 1949. The competition has both centralized and decentralized disciplines, with 55 centralized and 133 decentralized ones respectively.

The top 3 contestants of each discipline will receive gold, silver, and bronze medals and honorary certificates. Those who meet the conditions will also be awarded the honorary titles of “Hunan Provincial Technical Expert”, "Hunan Provincial Youth Expert”, and “Hunan Provincial Female Model”. The champions of each discipline will be awarded the honorary title of “Hunan Provincial May 1 Labor Medal”.
