On December 15, the Hunan Provincial People’s Government Information Office held a press conference. It announced that the 7th Hunan Art Festival will open on December 20.

The festival is hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and organized by the Xiangtan Municipal People's Government and the Yiyang Municipal People's Government. It will showcase the outstanding achievements of Hunan's cultural and artistic creation and production in the past three years.

This year's art festival includes five main events:

-- the opening ceremony;

-- professional stage art activities;

-- mass cultural activities;

-- a provincial exhibition on painting, calligraphy, and photography; and,

-- the closing ceremony and the awards ceremony.

The activities will be held in Changsha, Yiyang, and Xiangtan, and will last until January 6, 2022.

The festival will highlight major underlying trends and outstanding literary and artistic works, and follow an award- and review-oriented approach to carry out public-interest online and offline cultural events. It focuses on online performances and exhibitions in light of the epidemic situation. Traditional and new media technologies will be adopted to increase publicity. Opening ceremony, art performances, closing ceremony, and awards ceremony will be live-broadcasted on Hunan Yitong Culture Livestreaming Platform.

The Hunan Art Festival is Hunan’s comprehensive art activity with the highest standards. It is held every three years, and it always adheres to the purpose of "to be an art festival and people's festival". In the past three years, Hunan has created 68 large-scale stage plays and rearranged 28 excellent traditional shows, and innovated more than 160 skits to celebrate important events such as the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
