The Hunan Food Industry Association held its 7th congress in Changsha on
December 16, 2021. The conference announced that, Hunan’s food industry
scale ranks among the top in China, with its economic aggregate ranking
7th nationwide. In 2020, 2,685 large food enterprises in Hunan, not including tobacco
sector, had achieved a total operation revenue of 527.41 billion yuan,
taking up 13.8% of the provincial total of large enterprises which was
1.1 percentage points higher than that in 2015. Hunan’s economic
aggregate of food industry ascended from eighth nationwide in the end of
the 12th Five-year Plan period (2011-2015) to seventh during the 13th
Five-year Plan period (2016-2020). Over the past five years, the association has taken all-out efforts to
promote sci-tech innovation in food industry, made active participation
in poverty alleviation, and fought against the COVID-19 epidemic. The
compilation of the Hunan chapter of History of China’s Industry – Food
Industry Volume had been completed. The conference selected the chairperson of its seventh council, and
employed academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Yin Yulong
and Shan Yang to be senior advisor and expert committee director
respectively. The association will focus on increasing incomes of food industry
employees, efficiency of enterprises, development of the industry, and
tax revenue of government, to accelerate Hunan’s food industry to
