Anren county boosts traditional Chinese medicinal materials industry development

Anren County is a characteristic producing area of citrus aurantium (also known as bitter orange or lime) in Hunan. In recent years, the county government has taken the development of traditional Chinese medicinal materials industry as one of the important industries for rural revitalization, forming a complete industrial chain from planting to product development, processing, and sales. The county has planted 230,000 mu (15,333 ha.) of traditional Chinese medicinal materials, including 120,000 mu (8,000 ha.) of citrus aurantium. The former “smelly” citrus aurantium has now become a best-selling product, which has enabled the local people to increase income and become rich.
