Hunan has 2 newly-approved national-level wetland parks

The National Forestry and Grassland Administration recently announced 44 newly-approved national wetland parks. Hunan’s Mengdong River National Wetland Park in Yongshun County and Daoshui River National Wetland Park in Linli County made the list.

The Mengdong River National Wetland Park is situated in the northwest of Yongshun County. It is an important water supply for the Yuanshui River and Dongting Lake, and also a drinking water resource protection area in the county. It is of great significance to guarantee the safety of the ecosystems and water resources, as well as national aquatic product resources, in the Yuanshui River and Dongting Lake wetland.

The Daoshui River National Wetland Park is in Linli County, with wetlands occupying 96.39% of its total area. There are abundant wild animals and various plants, and also historical and cultural deposits.
