Hunan takes measure to ensure safe travels during Spring Festival travel rush

The 2022 Spring Festival travel rush kicks off on January 17. The railway stations, airports, and expressway service areas across Hunan began to present a festive atmosphere.Various measures have been rolled out to ensure safe and orderly travels of passengers.

During the Spring Festival travel rush, Hunan will see an estimated 44.96 million passenger trips, increasing by 10.16% year on year. The Changsha South Railway Station and its 17 subsidiary stations will handle 8.2 million passenger trips, while the station itself will handle 4.2 million trips, with the peak of daily passenger trips estimated at 160 thousand. The Changsha Railway Station will handle 2.02 million passenger trips, with the peak estimated at 85,000 trips per day.

The Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua High-speed Railway will operate 27 pairs of trains during its first Spring Festival travel rush.

Peaks of travelers will be seen during the periods between January 16 and 30, and February 5 and 11. The Changsha Huanghua International Airport will operate more than 500 flights per day. On the first day of travel rush, it handled 410 takeoffs and landings  with about 45,000 passenger trips.

The T2 terminal of the Changsha Huanghua Airport has been decorated with red lanterns and flowers, which made a strong festive atmosphere. Folk customs and crafts shows, such as paper cutting, rubbing, and dough figurines making, attracted numerous passengers. Airlines including the Air Travel, Southern Airlines, and Hainan Airlines launched a variety of celebrations to extend Spring Festival greetings to the passengers, such as blessing wall, scan-code-to-get-gift, and Chinese character “福” calligraphy presenting.

In order to ensure safe travels during the rush period, all transportation hubs around Hunan have intensified epidemic prevention work and improved their services. Temperature taking and health code checking channels have been added, and on-site nucleic acid testing service are provided.
