Output value of artificial intelligence industries exceeds 12.5 billion in 2021

Hunan Province’s basic capabilities in the artificial intelligence industry have been continuously improved, the scale of the industry expanded, and the integrated application of this sector deepened. According to statistics from the Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the provincial core artificial intelligence industries output value exceeded 12.5 billion yuan in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 25%. The number of enterprises that combine artificial intelligence with their main business exceeded 4,600.

Computing power has become the focus of artificial intelligence investment. There are 47 data centers above designated size built or under construction, with a total of 150,000 switchboards. The National Supercomputing Center in Changsha has upgraded systems. The Changsha Artificial Intelligence Computing Center is under construction. Xiangjiang Kunpeng has released the Zhaohan AI Inference Server. The China Telecom Tianyi Cloud Zhongnan Digital Industrial Park project will have a cloud resource capacity of 400,000 servers upon completion.

Key projects are progressing steadily. Three companies including Chaint Robotics were rated as superior units in the new generation of artificial intelligence industry innovation key tasks by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. A total of 21 enterprise projects in the field of artificial intelligence included in the provincial "Digital New Infrastructure" landmark project were put into production in 2021. Changsha Xingshen Intelligent Technology’s 1,000th unmanned vehicle rolled off the production line, achieving centimeter-level accurate positioning. Chaoneng Robot built an intelligent production line with an annual production capacity of 10,000 children morning-check robots and 20,000 home healthcare robots. Changsha Anmuquan Intelligent Technology has an annual production capacity of 100 million FC-SIP high-end chips.

Artificial intelligence technologies have been integrated into industry, medical care, transportation, and education. In 2021, Hunan had eight new provincial-level artificial intelligence demonstration application scenarios. The Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University is building a national major disease-oriented clinical trial center for artificial intelligence medical devices. The Hunan Apollo Intelligent Mobility Co., Ltd. has developed a L4 autonomous driving sweeper and put it into use.

Hunan’s artificial intelligence industry ecosystem is constantly improving. Leading artificial intelligence companies such as Sensetime, iFLYTEK, and Hikvision and Internet companies including Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, and JD scale up input in artificial intelligence in Hunan. They cooperate with local enterprises to accelerate the building of an improved industrial ecosystem for the basic layer, technology layer, and application layer of artificial intelligence.
