The Hunan Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Hunan Department of
Emergency Management decided to activate a Level-Ⅳ emergency response to
the freezing weather or snowstorms at 15:00 on February 6, 2022. The
decision was made based on current weather forecast and situation and
the Emergency Response Plan for Freezing Weather or Snowstorms of Hunan
Province (for Trial Implementation). The main period in response to freezing weather or snowstorms is between
February 6 and 8. The main areas are Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous
Prefecture, Zhangjiajie, Changde, Yiyang, Yueyang, Huaihua, Loudi,
Shaoyang, Changsha, and Xiangtan. The main industries prone to be
impacted are transport, electricity, housing and rural-urban
development, and agriculture. The Hunan Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Hunan Department of
Emergency Management pointed out that this round of freezing weather or
snowstorms coincides with Spring Festival return-trip rush. Departments
at all levels must attach great importance to it, strengthen
consultation and evaluation, and ensure responsibilities are fulfilled
to prevent risks, minimize losses, and guarantee people’s production and
living, and social stability.
