Idyllic life of a French lady and her Chinese mother in law

Melody, the French lady.

We are intrigued by this French lady who wears pajama and adeptly executes rural activites, such as feeding chicken, fertilizing, and digging soil.

In January 4th 2022, Melody had published her idyllic life in countryside of #Hunan online, and become an internet celebrity immediately. She gives a #romantic touch to rural activities. Interactions between her and her Chinese mother in law caught audience’s attention.

She had moved to China for 13 years. Her Chinese name is Meiluo. She met her Chinese husband, Luo Mengxiang, through work. They have been married for 5 years, and live in Xiamen. The place in her video is her husband’s hometown which is Dongping town, Anhua county Yiyang city.

Even though when Melody first arrived there, she speaks excellent Chinese, she still had a hard time understanding the local dialect.

“My mother in law immediately notice my maladjustment, and she always ask about my feeling.” She really take care of me as her daughter. Now I am completely open with her.

During the Spring Festival, Melody’s favorite activity is fertilizing vegetables with her mother in law.

“My mother in law could tell me what vegetables are suited for planting in each seasons, and take me to look for bamboo shoot.” “She is always energetic and digs a lots of bamboo shoots every time.”

Melody and her mother in law make dumpling together.

Every time after the new year holiday, her husband family would seal many local foods, such as cured meat, dried bamboo shoot and sweet potato noodle, so they can bring these back to Xiamen.

Now Melody is able to understand Anhua dialect, and found of the spiciness in Xiang cuisine. “My mother in law has excellent cooking skill. Food without spiciness have no savor, and spiciness is a must.” Melody said.

Besides food, Anhua has beautiful landscape, simple country life and friendly people which are worthy of recording. Through videos, Melody wants  Chinese audience to know her and foreigner to see Chinese countryside.

Melody really likes cured meat.

“If you ask me, what does rural China mean to me? It is about beautiful scenery, fresh air and delicious food… I am a French, and a wife to a Hunanese. My hometown is countryside of Hunan. It is home to me.” These words truly come from her heart.
