Hunan
Province is Hong Kong’s major source of fresh products. The Changsha
Customs will continue to ensure a stable supply of fresh products
including vegetables and eggs to meet living demands of Hong Kong
residents and assist Hong Kong in fighting COVID-19, according to the
Changsha Customs on February 28. At
21:00 on February 24, staffers of a vegetable processing plant in
Yongzhou City were sorting and packing fresh vegetables. The
agricultural products would be loaded in the very night and transported
to Hong Kong after on-site inspection by customs staff members. The
products would be placed on shelves of Hong Kong supermarkets at 9:00 am
the next morning. On
February 24, more than 800,000 eggs produced by a Changde-based company
were transported to Hong Kong after on-site customs clearance by
customs staff members. The company has increased supply of eggs to Hong
Kong after the Spring Festival. On average, more than 800,000 eggs are
supplied to Hong Kong every day. The “Everyday Fresh Egg” Brand is
recognized by Hong Kong residents. Currently
the Changsha Customs has opened a green channel to facilitate the
supply of materials to Hong Kong. Priorities will be given to companies
in applying for examination, inspection, and customs clearance for
agricultural products. Round-the-clock services for customs clearance
will be offered. As of February 24, a total of 35,000 tons of vegetables
and 1,310 tons of fresh eggs were transported from Hunan to Hong Kong. Translator: Xiao Juan
