On the evening of March 27, excavators, trucks and forklifts were seen on the construction site of a makeshift hospital at the southwest corner of Kaifu Avenue and Ring Expressway in Kaifu District, Changsha.

Changsha recently started the construction of a makeshift hospital, in an effort to actively respond to the complex and volatile epidemic situation and improve its capacity for emergency response.

The makeshift hospital is constructed by the 3rd Construction Co., Ltd. of the China Construction 5th Engineering Bureau. With a total construction area of 48,028 square meters, the hospital has 2,450 planned beds. It is equipped with medical equipment such as makeshift CT, PCR laboratory and mobile CT, and will be used to treat mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 infected people.
