Changsha North Freight Yard was more busy than usual during this year’s May Day holiday. At 4:45 a.m. on May 4, the X8186 China-Europe freight train, loaded with daily necessities, mixers and other living supplies, departed from the Changsha North Railway Station. It would leave the country via Horgos railway port to Malaszewicze, Poland.

China-Europe freight trains have shorter transport time than sea transportation, and cost less than air freight. They are safe, reliable, and environmental-friendly. Due to these advantages, the freight volume has increased, the number of freight trains and the scope of logistics have been continuously expanding, and the brand effect has become increasingly prominent despite the grim global epidemic situation. China-Europe freight trains have become the new favorites of countries along the Belt and Road.

The Changsha Freight Center of the Guangzhou Railway Group handled the first China-Europe freight train in 2014. After years of market cultivation, regular and large-scale operation of China-Europe freight trains has been achieved, which can fully satisfy the transport needs of foreign trade enterprises and facilitate Hunan goods to go global.

Changsha has handled 180 China-Europe freight trains so far this year, an increase of 21% compared to the same period last year. The trains transported over 17,628 TEUs and 105,040 tons of goods.
