China-Africa Economic, Trade Projects Signed

The Promotion Conference for China (Hunan)-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation & the Pilot Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation was successfully held in Changsha on July 28. Fourteen economic and trade cooperation agreements and projects, valued at nearly 170 million USD, were signed between China and various African countries on site.

Tanzanian Ambassador to China Mbelwa Kairuki; Algerian Ambassador to China Hassane Rabehi; Li Dianxun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province; and, Jiang Wei, director of the Department of Western Asian and African Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce, attended and delivered speeches.

Twenty-nine diplomatic envoys from 15 African countries including Algeria, Ethiopia, Angola, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Rwanda, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda also attended.

"Locating the Pilot Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation in Hunan has set a new fine example for exploring huge opportunities for cooperation between Chinese and African enterprises," Tanzanian Ambassador to China Mbelwa Kairuki said in his speech. He  hoped that all parties concerned in China and Africa will jointly promote African products in the Chinese market, explore the establishment of an overseas pilot zone in Africa, and further connect with the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Algerian Ambassador to China Hassane Rabehi highly appreciated Hunan's commitment to building the Pilot Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation and fully supported the establishment of a mechanism featuring mutual benefits and mutual connectivity between Africa and China. The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the pilot zone have provided new opportunities for cooperation with African countries.

The agreements and projects signed cover such fields as regional cooperation, strategic agreement, project financing, investment cooperation, and trade procurement.
