Hunan Promotes Green Construction Materials in Rural Areas

The Hunan event of the national campaign of promoting green construction materials to rural areas was inaugurated in Hunan's Xiangyin County on November 1, 2022.

The event was guided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, State Administration for Market Regulation, and National Rural Revitalization Administration, and co-hosted by the Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology and the Yueyang Municipal People's Government. It aims to accelerate the production, authentication, and application promotion of green construction materials; promote green consumption; advance construction of beautiful countryside; and, boost the development of the construction materials and prefabricated construction industrial cluster (industrial chain) in Hunan Province.

The three-day event in Hunan will have two exhibition areas. More than 100 enterprises will display green construction materials in various aspects, including prefabricated parts, prefabricated building, doors and windows, curtain wall, ornaments, waterproof and sealing materials, water supply and drainage, heating and ventilation, and solar-powered illumination.

This national campaign has been held in pilot regions like Zhejiang, Shandong, Tianjin, and Sichuan provinces. Various forms of activities were organized to promote green construction materials to broad rural areas and benefit more people.

Hunan Province was approved by six central government ministries and administrations to make the list of the first pilot regions, the only province in the central region of China, for promoting green construction materials into rural areas.

Hunan government has given priority to the development of green construction materials industry, and listed the construction materials and prefabricated building sector as one of the 22 industrial clusters of provincial significance.

As the first "national prefabricated building technology innovation base" and the first pilot province in steel-structure prefabricated housing construction, Hunan has formed a green construction materials product system. There are 232 authenticated green construction materials enterprises and 1,056 authenticated products in the province, in the front rank nationwide.

Statistics shows that, in 2021, Hunan's construction industry made a revenue of 337.5 billion yuan, rising 11.5% over the previous year. According to the 14th five-year plan of Hunan's construction industry, by 2025, the main business revenue of the province's construction materials industry will hit 400 billion yuan with a steady growth.
