A group of over 30 elks appeared on the shore along the Yangtze River at Hongshi Village, Guangxingzhou Town, Junshan District, Yueyang. Elk is a rare species living in wetlands under first-class state protection in China. Their living condition is closely bound up with wetland preservation. As the ecological environment of the Yangtze River and the Dongting Lake improved in recent years, the number of wild elks in the lake area increased from 10 to more than 230, according to up-to-date data.
