Exhibition on Painting Album of Dream of Red Mansions Opens in Changsha

Themed "Only for Love", an exhibition on the painting album of Dream of Red Mansions by Sun Wen and Sun Yunmo in the Qing Dynasty opened at the Changsha Museum on July 14. The painting album is a collection of the Lvshun Museum and a national first-class cultural relic. It was meticulously painted by Sun Wen and Sun Yunmo, painters of Fengrun District in Hebei Province in the late Qing Dynasty, based on a version of the "Dream of Red Mansions" published in 1791. It took several decades for Sun Wen and Sun Yunmo to finish.

The painting album has 24 parts featuring 230 pictures. The exhibition displays 149 pictures selected from the 230 ones. It is part of the special exhibitions on Chinese civilization organized by the Changsha Museum. The exhibition is divided into four parts, each presenting a segment of the story line of the "Dream of Red Mansions".

In addition, an immersive digital exhibition "Dreamland of Red Mansions" developed by the Lvshun Museum and the Artron Art Group is on display at the Changsha Museum. The digital exhibition, based on a painting album created by Sun Wen and Sun Yunmo and collected by the Lvshun Museum, is supported by rich digital art resources and professional art digitalization services. It aims to explore the spiritual core of "Dream of Red Mansions"and to bring traditional Chinese culture to visitors through digitalization scenarios using digital technologies and virtual reality.

The exhibition will last till October 29. Visitors are required to make reservations in advance via the official WeChat account of "Changsha Museum [长沙博物馆]" and show valid documents, such as an ID card, and cooperate with the staff before entry.
