Philippine Reporters Visit Shibadong Village

On July 2, a Philippine press delegation led by Gerald Baria, undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Office of the Philippines, visited some manufacturing enterprises in Changsha to learn about the city’s achievements in advanced manufacturing.

The reporters visited the BROAD Group and observed its products, in particular, the Holon Buildings. The BROAD Holon Building is a kind of 100% factory-made low-carbon stainless steel building, using the ultra-light steel-core plates developed by BOARD, with no concrete, scaffolding or form-work, and producing no construction waste. Its structural components, walls and windows, mechanical, electrical and plumbing features, intelligent control systems, and furnishing are all installed and debugged in the factory, and then transported in standard containers, enabling low cost and barrier-free worldwide transportation. The components are assembled on site, as rapidly as three floors per day. The building is fully thermal-insulated, with its air conditioning load being 90% less than conventional buildings under a 24℃ temperature throughout a year.

On that afternoon, the reporters visited the Xiangtan factory of the Hunan Iron and Steel Group and learned about the manufacture of its wide and heavy plates, one of the representative projects in accelerating the progress of new industrialization in Hunan. They visited the intelligent operation and control center for plate production, where a working staff remotely operates several overhead hoists, with visualization technology for the entire process.

The reporters learned about the features, prices, and range of applications of these products, as well as their marketing in the Philippines. They all gave thumbs-up for Changsha’s advanced manufacturing.

On July 3 afternoon, the delegation went to Shibadong Village in Shuanglong Town, Huayuan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. They conducted interviews about the efforts and progress in promoting targeted poverty alleviation and rural revitalization work in the village.

Shibadong Village, the birthplace of China's "targeted poverty alleviation," has lifted all its families out of poverty.

Following in the footsteps of Chinese President Xi Jinping during his inspection tour of the village, the reporters visited Lizizhai, the Miao embroidery demonstration base, local B&B's, and the Jingzhunping Square, to explore the changes in Shibadong Village under the great national policies of targeted poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
