12th GCC International Guitar Festival Opens in Changsha

The opening ceremony of the 12th GCC International Guitar Festival.

A concert themed "Western Strings, Eastern Instruments" by world-renowned guitarist Yang Xuefei, together with erhu player Xue Chenqian and pipa player Sun Ying, was staged at the Changsha Concert Hall on the evening of August 5. This raised the curtain on the 12th GCC International Guitar Festival.

Founded in 2012, the GCC International Guitar Festival aims to provide an interactive and friendly exchange platform for music artists and music lovers from around the world through guitar performance competitions, guitar composition contests, concerts, master classes, academic seminars, exhibitions and other forms. The international guitar performance competitions and composition contests have so far attracted contestants from 42 countries and regions.

With the theme of "Oriental Civilization--Journey of Civilization", this year's festival is co-sponsored by the Mencius Foundation, Hunan Xiande Culture Co., Ltd., and Hunan Provincial Culture and Art Foundation. Seven international concerts, 5 master classes, a guitar exhibition, an international guitar performance competition, and an international guitar composition contest will be held during the festival. More than 30 internationally influential guitar players, artists and art school professors from more than 10 countries will be participating in the event.
