Highlights of Hunan's Annual "Two Sessions"

The First Session of the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress and the First Session of the 13th Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will kick off on January 14 and 13 respectively. Let's take a look at the highlights of the Hunan annual "Two Sessions" this year!

1. Achievements of the current government and what to do in 2023

The Report on the Work of the People's Government of Hunan Province is undoubtedly a major focus at the "Two Sessions".

It is worth noting that the first session of each people's congress will review the work of the current government in the past five years. This year's report, paying tribute to the past and planning for the future, will generally have more highlights. The year 2023 marked the start of comprehensive implementation of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. How to ensure a good start, and the development blueprint and goals planned in the government work report, will be in the spotlight.

2. Deputies to the new provincial people's congress and members of the new CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee to perform their duties

On January 10 and 9, the name list of 755 deputies to the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress and the list of 743 members of the 13th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee were released to the public.

3. Election of leadership of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, the People's Government of Hunan Province, and the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee

At the Hunan annual "Two Sessions" this year, the following provincial leaders will be elected:

- Director, deputy directors, secretary general, and members of the Standing Committee of the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress;

- Governor and vice governors of the Hunan Provincial People's Government;

- Chairperson, vice chairpersons, secretary general, and Standing Committee members of the 13th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee;

- Director of the Hunan Provincial Supervisory Commission;

- President of the Hunan Provincial High People's Court; and,

- Procurator-general of the Hunan Provincial People's Procuratorate.

4. Election of Hunan deputies to the 14th National People's Congress

In the year of the general provincial election, the deputies to the 14th National People's Congress ought to be elected by Hunan Province will also be elected at the First Session of the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress. They will appear at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing this March.
