The tea is recognized as a Chinese geographical indication product.

As one of the main tea-producing counties in Hunan, Xinhua has a history of tea production for more than 1,500 years  . When the clattering of horse hooves sounded along the mountain streams across Tianmen township, Tianmen Han tea was becoming known to the outside world. At the top of the mountain at an altitude of 1,200 meters, where the tender tea leaves are usually wrapped in thin ice, which is, in the breeze of the south wind, similar to the climatic conditions of early spring, the organic tea with zero pesticides is thus produced.
