Tanzania Ambassador to China Visits FTZ Changsha Area

On the afternoon of January 12, Mr. Khamis Mussa Omar, ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to China, visited the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Changsha Area Exhibition Block, inspecting the international business and commercial service in the block.

Other Tanzanian guests and local leaders present included: Khatibu Makenga, consul general of Tanzania in Guangzhou; Miraji Ukuti Ussi, minister plenipotentary of the Republic of Tanzania in China; Dai Zhiguang, deputy director of the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee; Mo Jinwen, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee and director of the Management Committee of the FTZ Changsha Area Exhibition Block; Liu Tieliang, deputy director of the Asian and African Division of the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee; and, Yao Jun, member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of the FTZ Changsha Area Exhibition Block.

Mr. Khamis Mussa Omar and his entourage came to the first-built zone of the International Business and Commercial Service Area, learning about the overall operation of the area and the participation of related organizations. At present, the Joint Visa Application Center set up by the VFS Global, the world's largest visa outsourcing service provider, has been in full operation. It provides visa services for Hunan and neighboring provinces, covering more than 20 countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. Besides, a number of national authorized international business institutions of Serbia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and other countries are setting up offices in the area.

A symposium was held during the visit. Dai Zhiguang welcomed to Mr. Khamis Mussa Omar and his party to Hunan, saying that Hunan and Tanzania have fruitful cooperation in economic and trade, agriculture, medical care, and education among other fields, with broad prospects. Hunan welcomes Tanzania to set up relevant institutions to deepen international exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between the two sides. Mo Jinwen briefed the guests on Hunan FTZ, specifying the advantages of the Exhibition Block, organization of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, as well as the overall situation of building the International Business and Commercial Service Area. He sincerely welcomed Tanzania to set up authorized offices in the block.

Mr. Khamis Mussa Omar spoke highly of the development of Hunan and FTZ Changsha Area. He said that, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, former president of Tanzania's Zanzibar, attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo which was held in the block last year. The cooperation between Tanzania and China is full of opportunities. During this visit, he deeply felt the profound friendship between China and Africa and was gratified by the cooperation between Tanzania and China. The International Business and Commercial Service Area has played a strategic platform role in international exchanges and cooperation. He will coordinate with relevant authorities in Tanzania to accelerate setting up institutions and offices in Hunan.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania. He welcomed Hunan enterprises to invest or start up business in Tanzania, promoting new progress in bilateral collaboration in the fields of trade and investment as well as culture and tourism, and making greater contributions to China-Africa cooperation.
