Hunan saw a sharp rise in the number of outbound and inbound trips during the 2024 Chinese Lunar New Year holiday. Changsha Huanghua International Airport handled 130 outbound and inbound flights from February 10 to 17. The airport handled 21,000 passenger trips during this period, 14.3 times more than that of the Spring Festival holiday last year. Forty outbound and inbound flights and 5,805 instances of outbound and inbound air travelers were made at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport, according to the Zhangjiajie Customs Authority.

A majority of outbound and inbound passengers in Hunan traveled abroad and returned home for family visits. The destinations included Seoul, Incheon, Bangkok, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.

So far the Changsha Huanghua International Airport has opened 33 cross-border passenger and cargo air routes, linking 27 cities of 18 countries and regions. Gao Xuan, deputy chief of the Second Traveler Inspection Division of Changsha Huanghua International Airport Customs Authority, said that the accelerated recovery of international flights and China's visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from tourist destinations have stimulated the rapid growth of outbound and inbound passengers. Gao added that on February 16 alone, the airport customs supervised 25 outbound and inbound flights with more than 3,800 passengers.

In order to ensure the smooth flow of travelers during the Spring Festival, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport Customs Authority and the Zhangjiajie Customs Authority learned about the number of flights and passengers in advance, and conducted a comprehensive investigation over on-site equipment. The authorities made reasonable human resource arrangements, improved on-site customs clearance process for traveler inspection to reduce customs clearance time, and further facilitated customs clearance for inbound and outbound passengers.
