The 2024 Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Lantern Festival will be held on February 23 and 24 at the Hunan Cultural Center, bringing the public with special festive celebrations.

Launched in 2019, the Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Lantern Festival aims to promote the integration of Hunan's intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and traditional festivals, tell Hunan's stories well through ICH displays, make Hunan's voice heard in terms of ICH inheritance, and fully display the achievements of Hunan's ICH protection. The event has become an exemplary brand to carry forward Hunan's ICH.

The festival is under the guidance of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and hosted by the Hunan Cultural Center. It features six areas covering ICH bazar, ICH performances, lantern show, gifts presenting, entertainment, and literati gathering.

Sixty ICH representative items will be displayed, involving traditional skills, Chinese folk music, traditional Chinese costumes, and traditional fine arts. Visitors have a chance to savor a bowl of Leicha (ground tea), sample Zhijiang pickled radish, and try their hands at making dough figurines.

Interactive activities will also be held, including 1-yuan auction of ICH-related products, Hanfu enthusiasts serving as tourist guides, Hanfu fashion show, and livestreaming events on Douyin. These celebrations enable visitors to experience Hunan's ICH and the Chinese Lunar New Year festivities.
