双语·一县一品 | 一锦色彩，西兰卡普 土家族跨越时空的无字史诗

有一个民族有自己的语言，但没有本民族的文字。他们的故事都织在了西兰卡普里。

There is an ethnic group that has their own language, but does not have its own form of writing. Their stories are woven into Xilankapu brocade.

在湘西、张家界除了有奇山异水，也有一朵“土家之花”——西兰卡普，因色彩绚丽、图案精美，被誉为土家族的五彩活化石。

Zhangjiajie is known not only for its magnificent mountains and waters, but also for the Tujia brocade - - Xilankapu. It is reputed as the colorful living fossil of the Tujia ethnic group because of its brilliant colors and exquisite patterns.

“西兰”为铺盖，“卡普”指花，“西兰卡普”即为花铺盖。是土家族重要的民间工艺品，也是中国五大名锦之一。

"Xilan" in the Tujia language means bedspreads, and "Kapu" means flowers. "Xilan Kapu" is hence a flower-patterned bedspread, which is an important folk handicraft of the Tujia people and also one of the five famous brocades in China.

土家女孩从十几岁就开始学织西兰卡普，为了给自己织好出嫁时最美的衣裳。

Tujia girls learn to weave Xilankapu from their teenage years, so that they can weave the most beautiful wedding dress for themselves when they get married.

通过通经断纬的技艺手法，需要手、脚、腰、人和机器共十二道工艺一起联动。

A total of twelve crafts and techniques are needed to produce a Xilancapu , which requires the coordination of hands, feet, waist, man and machine.

制得花鸟、动物、人物栩栩如生，亦是一代代土家人与自然关系的生动写照。

The vivid flowers, birds, animals, and figures presented on the brocade are also a vivid portrayal of the relationship between the Tujia people and nature over the generations.

同时将传统赋予当代价值，背包、围巾、挂毯、装饰品、西服。西兰卡普现如今也有百变造型。

At the same time the time-honored tradition of weaving is given a contemporary value in various fashionable products such as backpacks, scarves, tapestries, decorations, and Western-style clothes. Xilankapu is now available in hundreds of varied designs and patterns.

一梭一线，一经一纬，一丝不苟，一以贯之。西兰卡普独特的数字韵律持续发光发烫，无关岁月的流逝，在这片织锦土地上薪火相传、生生不息。

A shuttle, a thread, a warp and a weft – they are expressions of meticulousness and consistency of the Tujia people. The unique “digital” rhythm of Xilankapu continues to shining and glow, regardless of the passage of time, and has on this land of brocades passed on from generation to generation.
