A ceremony to mark the beginning of spring ploughing was held at the Daotian (rice field) Park in Anren County on March 20. As Chun Fen, or Spring Equinox, the fourth solar term on the Chinese lunar calendar, began recently, Anren County launched its annual Ganfenshe celebrations.

Ganfenshe is a folk ritual lasting for more than 1,000 years to commemorate Shennong who tasted hundreds of herbs in order to understand the medicinal properties of them. On the occasion of Chun Fen, the locals and guests from around the country gathered in Anren County to conduct transactions of farm tools, medicinal herbs, and other commodities. In recent years, the county has combined "flower appreciation economy" and Ganfenshe activities to promote an integrated development of traditional Chinese medicine and cultural tourism.
