Governor Mao Leads Hunan Delegation to Visit the United States

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, led a delegation to the United States between April 16 and 19, 2024. This tour aimed to implement Xi Jinping Thought on Foreign Affairs; advance the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state; meet with friends from all walks of life in the U.S.; deepen the economic and trade exchanges and cooperation; and, visit the Hunan entrepreneur representatives in the U.S. to better serve the overall situation of China's diplomacy.

Xie Feng, Chinese ambassador to the United States, attended relevant activities. Qu Hai, secretary general of the provincial government, joined the tour.

On April 16, Governor Mao exchanged gifts with Jeffrey Greene, chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, in Washington, D.C., U.S.A.

On April 17, Governor Mao met with Carlos Gutierrez, board member of the Boao Forum for Asia and former US Secretary of Commerce, in Washington, D.C.

On April 17, Governor Mao shook hands with Ajay Banga, president of the World Bank Group when visiting the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C.

On April 17, Governor Mao met with Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng in Washington, D.C.

On April 17, Governor Mao met with Craig Allen, president of the US-China Business Council in Washington, D.C.

On April 18, Governor Mao met with Yale University President Peter Salovey in New Haven, USA.

On April 19, Governor Mao witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and the BD for jointly building an advanced medical innovation center.

On April 19, Governor Mao met with Cheng Yan Davis, founder and president of the Forum for World Education, at the New York Club of the University of Pennsylvania.

On April 19, Governor Mao had a discussion with Hunan entrepreneurs who are currently residing in the United States in New York.

On April 18, Governor Mao met with Yale-China Association President John Frisbie.

The delegation also came to the Chinese Embassy in the United States and the Consulate General in New York, to discuss with Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng on deepening the exchanges and cooperation between Hunan and the U.S. in such areas as investment, science and education, and culture and tourism.
