2024 China New Media Conference Opens in Changsha

The 2024 China New Media Conference (CNMC) kicked off in Changsha on October 15. Mo Gaoyi, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and director of the State Council Information Office of China, attended and delivered a keynote speech. Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Liu Siyang, secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and vice chairman of the All-China Journalists Association, made speeches.

CNMC set up six parallel forums, namely, a content innovation forum themed "Promoting All-Media Production and All-Media Communication", an international communication forum themed "Building a More Effective International Communication System", a social responsibility forum themed "Building New Media Responsibility in the Digital Era", a technology application forum themed "Integration and Innovation, Intelligent Communication", a media plus forum themed "Media Integration Empowers Social Governance", and a digital cultural heritage forum themed "New Ecology of Cultural Heritage and New Expression of Smart Digital". There are also four thematic activities, including the "Culture and Sci-Tech Integration to Boost New Cultural Industries" — Malanshan Time Cultural and Creative Event, and the "Sci-Tech and Culture Integration, New and Smart Media Technological Coordination" 2024 China New Media Technology Exhibition.

The "Realizing Modernization Goals and Furthering Reform" Collection and Display of Excellent Integration Cases, the "My Studio" Collection and Display of Excellent Cases, the 2024 China New Media Joint Public Welfare Action and the Excellent Cases Collection, and the "Culture in China — Songs of the Yangtze River" Special Report Activity were initiated at the conference, showcasing the achievements of media integration and development.

Xu Lijing, deputy editor-in-chief of the People's Daily; Liu Jian, deputy director of the Xinhua News Agency; Hu Jinjun, deputy director of the China Media Group; and Zhang Jianlin, deputy director of the PLA News Media Center, together with provincial leaders Wu Guiying, Yang Haodong, Zhang Yingchun, Qin Guowen, Zhou Haibing, and Wang Junshou, were present.

CNMC is sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and jointly organized by the All-China Journalists Association and the People's Government of Hunan Province. More than 1,000 representatives from relevant departments of the central government, the publicity departments of the Party committees of provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, central and local news agencies, website platforms, journalism colleges, and research institutes, joined the conference. Media representatives from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions, and Ghana, Vietnam, and other countries were invited for the first time to participate in the conference.
